Utilising Symmetry to Simplify Computer Model Performance Evaluation

A method is given to nd an analytical description of models of computer systems, whose evolution in time may be considered as a homogeneous Markov process. It is shown that existence of symmetry in the model allows one to consider the equivalence classes under symmetry transformations and the probabilities of transitions between them. Utilisation of symmetry reduces the order of the linear equations which have to be solved to the number of equivalence classes. A detailed consideration of the Completely Connected Network model is given for which the procedure to nd the coe cients of transition probability matrix is developed. Particular examples of computer models are considered. The in uence of \parallel slackness" on the performance is studied.
